Most food and commercial photo-shoots will take place in a studio. The reason is simple. The photographer has a lot of control over the lights. The position of the light, the angle, the amount of light, the distance to the subject and the size of the light source. The photographer uses reflectors, mirrors and a lot of accessories to add light in some areas and subtract light from other areas.
This picture was taken outdoors. It’s really fun because it’s a bit more challenging. The light was coming from camera right and there was a small reflector on camera left to get rid of some dark areas. The tripod was used to leave the camera on the same place, while I was moving the mango to get the picture composed the way I had planned it.
Please keep in mind that the exposure settings listed above only work for the lighting conditions I had when I took the picture.
