We celebrated Thanksgiving at home with the kids today. Because it was going to be dinner for four, we decided to buy the smallest turkey possible. It was a 7.8 lb. turkey. We also decided to make it a little different from the traditional thanksgiving dinner. So we made "beer can turkey". We mixed half of the beer with oregano, paprika, salt and pepper and injected that juice into the meat. We cooked it in the oven at 275F, which is lower than usual. It took about 2 hours and 45 minutes to cook. The skin came out crispy and the meat was very moist and delicious! We carved the meat a little thick which allowed us to taste all the juices and flavors. We also added some crispy bacon to the gravy. We ate it with roasted potatoes, green beans and a delicious salad. And we finished the meal with a home made apple pie and vanilla ice cream. Oh my! What a wonderful dinner we had.
